Overall, the healthcare system in Mexico is of a high standard; however, services and quality vary widely between rural and urban areas. The system is multifaceted comprising public institutions, private hospitals and physicians, and clinics. It is predominantly contingent on an individuals’ employment status. Throughout Yucatan there are many remote villages where the Mayan people struggle to receive quality, consistent health education and services. There is also a critical need for dependable medical equipment.
